01 / Our Story
Theatre with a civic duty
We believe theatre exists to hold a mirror up to society, through stories that make you lean in and leave changed.
Novus Theatre was founded by a group of artists who believe in the power of storytelling. Each of us found our way to the stage by a different road, and each of us found something there we couldn't find anywhere else.
That's the belief Novus is built on: that art can be a way back to yourself, and that the stage is one of the last places where a room full of strangers agrees to feel something true together.
We produce intimate, actor-driven work in rooms small enough that you can't look away. Our first three productions each sold out.
Now we're building something bigger: Nashville's home for bold, fearless theatre, with paid work for local artists and professional training for the next generation of Nashville actors.
